PROGECT OF LNG STORAGE FACILITY, INSTALLED AFLOAT

Design project is worked out for the construction of a facility for reception, storage and regasification of LNG, which is installed afloat.The storage facility is constructed as an autonomous floating structure, it is towed to the operation site and is installed to the sea bed near the shore. the facility also serves as a reliable marine quay for LNG carriers, it is connected to the communications of the served area and supplies LNG to the area.
 
 LNG storage facility has the following advantages:

  • Construction of the complex is carried out at a plant and not on its operational site, it significantly lowers the construction period and its cost;
  • The storage facility can supply gas to small settlements or military units    in hard-to-reach areas or areas with underdeveloped infrastructure;
  • LNG application as a fuel can minimize the harm to nature (what is especially important to the Arctic regions of the RF) and to cheapen the energy consumption;
  • Operation of LNG storage facility can provide for creation of significant stores of fuel, leading to autonomity of a region and gas supply to the regions without gas pipelines.

Advantages of application of reinforced concrete as a construction material are its long service life, corrosion resistance, low cost, adaptability,    low expenditures during the operation, good heat resistant properties and fire resistance.

The storage facility consists from four tanks, produced from  cryogenic resistant 9% nickel steel. The tanks are isolated by means of foamed glass and
expanded perlite sand. The above mentioned isolation provides for normal temperatures inside the storage facility in the Arctic conditions.
The storage capacity of the unit provides for 8 months uninterruptible operation of the regasification equipment, the    productivity is 750 kg/h.

The floating storage facility is installed near the shore, on protected water area.
The floating storage facility is under operation the whole year. Loading/unloading of LNG carriers and LNG storage is carried out during the whole navigational period. Regasification process is carried out constantly. For autonomous operation provided on the floating storage facility is its own electric power station and a boiler room.
