Construction of artificial islands at oil and gas production sites with water depth up to 20 m is a common practise and is widely spread all over the world.

CDB "Monolit" has worked out several draft projects of artificial islands' construction on the marine water areas, including the projects of application of reinforced concrete caissons (pontoons) for the islands' contouring.

Protection contour from the pontoons provides for the required form of the island and protects the ground core from    washing out and from ice loads.

Water depth at the site of the artificial island's construction - from 4 to 20 m.

Main parts of the island:

  • sand bed for installation of the protective contour;
  • reinforced concrete pontoons, forming the protective contour of the island;
  • ground core, filling the space between the pontoons;
  • working platform, serving as a covering of the ground core;
  • filling    of    gravel along the perimeter of the island;
  • wavebreaking device (if necessary).

CAISSONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PROTECTIVE CONTOUR OF THE ISLANDS

Caissons are produced at a plant, are towaged to the installation site and are installed on the sea bed by ballasting. The caissons can have different form and sizes.
